Recently Warwick Hospital’s Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) received a generous donation from the Oak pub in Warwick. The donation of £2000 was presented to Margaret Mayhew, Neonatal Midwife and will go towards purchasing additional equipment for the Unit and making further enhancements to the environment.
The Oak pub raised the money by receiving donations from customers and members of the public, conducting various events including a bingo game and holding a book exchange service.
The fundraisers have close links with the unit through children and grandchildren who have previously required attention from the department. Jasper Gibson, one of the Oak’s customers, donated £200 (to round the total to £2000) after his children were cared for in SCBU.
Margaret Mayhew, Neonatal Midwife, SCBU SWFT said “This donation is fantastic and I would like to thank of all the members of the public who helped to raise the money. The donation will contribute to buying additional specialist equipment which is very expensive.”
Lee Palman, Manager of the Oak pub said “It has been a pleasure donating this money to SCBU. Many of our customers have either had experience with the Unit or know somebody who has. We hope our contribution makes a difference”
