Warwick Hospital’s Maternity Department recently received a generous donation from the Pregnancy and Birth Network to go towards making further enhancements to the environment where mothers give birth.
Some of the enhancements so far have included adding iPod docking stations, comfortable sofas and soft, bright furnishings to each of the birthing rooms, ensuring that mothers feel comfortable. Mel Crockett, Deputy Head of Midwifery, gratefully received the donation on behalf of the Trust.
The Pregnancy and Birth Network raised the money by organising a free pregnancy, birth and baby show at the Town Hall in Leamington-Spa for members of the public. The network’s aim is to signpost women to health care services and fertility, pregnancy, birth and post natal support.
Mel Crockett, Deputy Head of Midwifery said “On behalf of the Maternity Department I would like to say thank you to the Pregnancy and Birth Network for their donations, they are gratefully received and will go towards equipment and enhancements for the ward.”
Diane Ménage from the Pregnancy and Birth Network said “A comfortable, more homely environment can make a big difference to women in labour. The Pregnancy and Birth Network are keen to support Warwick Hospital’s Maternity Unit in their efforts to enhance their birth environment. “
Tamsin Brewis from the Pregnancy and Birth Network said “We hope to be able to raise more money in the future with other projects. Details can be found on our website.”
