Hospital Supporter publishes heartfelt memoir of late wife

A national cricket reporter has published a memoir of his late wife, who was treated for breast cancer at Warwick Hospital’s Aylesford Unit before sadly passing away in 2019.

Brian Halford, a committed supporter of the Aylesford Unit, who regularly donates to SWFT Charity’s Aylesford Unit Fund, has published the book called “Remembering Mary: A Story of Love, Laughter and Inspiration”.

It is available to purchase on Amazon in paperback or on Kindle with all royalties going to the Aylesford Unit.

In the book, Brian, who lives in Warwick, celebrates the life of his beloved wife Mary Bonner and the joy she brought to so many people in so many ways during her life. Brian and Mary met in 1991 and enjoyed 29 wonderful years together.

The book also offers thanks for the amazing support the couple received from so many people within the NHS and beyond. It is an uplifting and beautifully written tribute to a lovely lady.

Mary left a significant legacy gift in her will to the benefit of the Aylesford Unit, the Breast Care Unit and the Warwick Hospital Cancer Support Group, as a thank you for the wonderful care she received at the hospital. In the book, Brian recalls: “Warwick Hospital is a huge operation which employs more than 3,000 people. If there is, amongst that lot, from cleaners to consultants, one who does not sit somewhere between good and brilliant, we did not meet him or her.”
