Launch of a new health visiting support service to help parents and carers in Solihull

Solihull Health Visiting Service Manager, Helen Lake is delighted to announce a new texting service is now available to provide help and support to parents and carers, making it easier for them to get information and advice.

ChatHealth launched on the 1st July 2020 by the Solihull Health Visiting Service, part of the South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust, provides advice and support to parents and carers about a range of health issues and improves their access to the health visiting service.

The award-winning service, which is available to all parents and carers of children aged 0-5 provides the opportunity to contact a Health Visitor (a trained nurse who specialises in public health) via text message. Those using the service will be able to get advice and support on a range of issues such as feeding, sleep, emotional health, development or general parenting queries by texting 07507 332 563.

Nicole da Costa, Clinical Lead, said: “Text messaging plays a significant role in how we connect with each other and we are so pleased to now be able to offer ChatHealth to parents and carers in the borough. We hope this service provides an easy and convenient way for families to reach us, making us more accessible to them. ChatHealth has also prompted a re-launch of our social media sites, where we regularly post helpful information, share updates about upcoming groups and create a place to connect virtually. However you choose to reach us, we’re here for you!”

ChatHealth is available Monday-Friday from 9am-4pm (excluding bank holidays). Messages can be sent anytime and will be responded to within working hours. You will receive an automatic reply to confirm your message has been received. For medical help and advice outside of these hours please contact your GP or call 111. In an emergency, ring 999.
