South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust excited to be selected as new provider of family lifestyle services for young people and their families across Coventry

For the last ten months the Trust have been developing a proposal with partners to deliver family lifestyle services in Coventry. We are delighted to announce that Coventry City Council have awarded us a five year contract to deliver these services.

The proposal innovatively brings together Health Visiting, Family Nurse Partnership, Infant Feeding, Stop Smoking In Pregnancy, School Nursing Services, and Family Weight Management Services to form one new service. This team will also benefit from integration with MAMTA, a specialist service for BME communities.

As the current provider of school nursing services in Coventry, it provides a great opportunity to build upon the fantastic work the team have already done and extend this work further. A key priority in this new contract will be health and wellbeing and how we work with families and partners to support better health across Coventry.

As provider of similar services in Warwickshire and Solihull it also enables the team to use this wider learning to make improvements across all of these areas.

Rachael Tompkins, General Manager Children, Young People and Family Services said: “We are delighted to be awarded the contract and are excited to bring all of these services together to make improvements for families in Coventry. We are working closely with Coventry City Council and are looking forward to welcoming staff from the current service providers into our organisation. We are confident that their knowledge and experience will further strengthen our team.”

Helen Lake, Locality Manager for Coventry School Nursing shared that the School Nursing Team was delighted to hear that SWFT had been awarded the Tender for the Family Health and Lifestyle Service in Coventry. Helen said that ‘once the announcement was made numerous emails and calls came flooding into the management office full of congratulations, expressions of thanks to all who had been involved in the tender process and excitement for the future delivery of the service’. Helen and the school nursing team are looking forward to welcoming new colleagues to SWFT and working in partnership to deliver this new service to the children, young people and families in Coventry.
