Trust Chairman to walk 3 marathons in 3 days

The Chairman of South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust is taking on the challenge of walking 3 marathons in 3 days to help raise money for the Birth & Babies Appeal.

Russell Hardy, who is also a Trustee for the hospital’s charity, plans to walk 78 miles from Shoeberryness to Watford in August.

The Birth & Babies Appeal aims to raise £200,000 to make Warwick Hospital's new midwifery led birthing centre the best that it can be. The Chairman hopes to raise £1000 towards the appeal through sponsorship for his challenge. The “Bluebell Birth Centre” is due to open this July, benefitting women and their families from South Warwickshire and beyond.

Russell said: “I am delighted to be supporting our new midwife led unit fundraising appeal; the money will enable us to purchase equipment that will make women’s birthing experience the best that it can possibly be”.

If the Chairman manages to reach his £1000 target, this will enable the charity to buy the following equipment for one of the 4 birthing rooms: TENs machine for pain relief (£30), a baby crib with stand (£400), a bladeless cooling fan (£350) and table and floor lamps (£220).
