Trust in need of Twiddlemitts

Matrons are calling on local knitters to help create a selection of Twiddlemitts that can be used by patients. A Twiddlemitt is a double thickness hand muff with small odds and ends attached inside and out, designed to provide stimulation for patients with dementia.

Kathy Wagstaff, a Matron based at Warwick Hospital explains their benefits; “Twiddlemitts are great for patients who may be feeling anxious or restless as they can help provide a distraction in times of distress. When we became aware of Twiddlemitts we asked if Carol and Linda could make us some examples and hopefully we can encourage members of the public to follow their lead and create us some interesting new designs.”

Twiddlemits can be sent to: Matrons Office, Warwick Hospital, Lakin Road, Warwick, CV34 5BW.
