Chaplains, spiritual and religious support

What we do

The Chaplains offer spiritual, religious and pastoral support to patients, relatives, carers and staff at all four of the hospitals in the Trust. We are available for everyone, of any faith or none.

A chaplain will:
  • listen and be alongside you
  • retain confidentiality
  • help you in healing and recovery
  • offer prayers and sacraments if requested
A chaplain will not:
  • preach at you, judge you or criticise you
  • push religion at you
  • visit for too long

Our team includes 6 professional chaplains and more than 40 volunteer chaplains. We try to visit every ward during the week, but inevitably it isn’t possible to catch everyone, so please do contact us if you would like a visit. We can also contact local faith community leaders on your behalf.
