Advice for Patients Waiting for Hip and Knee Replacements
What we do
The Trust has recently extended Warwick Hospital to open a centre of excellence for orthopaedic care.
There are two wards that are dedicated to orthopaedic care; Thomas Ward which provides trauma orthopaedic care and Greville Ward treating elective Orthopaedic patients.
The orthopaedic team do all joint replacement surgery including;
• total hip replacement
• total knee replacement
• joint revision surgery
• resurfacing of hip joint
• minimally invasive surgery
They also do all upper limb surgery including;
• arthroscopic surgery
• shoulder replacement/resurfacing
• elbow and hand surgery
• foot and ankle surgery
• knee and arthroscopic surgery
• all general Orthopaedic and Trauma surgery
All elective patients will undergo an assessment in Pre-Operative Assessment Clinic to ensure they are medically fit.
Nurse/Physiotherapy led teaching clinic for patients undergoing joint replacement surgery. This service provides patient education on exercise, pain relief, healthy eating and medical problems. It is also an opportunity for patients to ask questions and share experiences.
South Warwickshire Accelerated Transfer Team (SWATT) facilitates early discharge of patients undergoing joint replacement surgery.
