Pharmacy Outpatient Services

What we do

The Pharmacy Department provides a comprehensive clinical and technical pharmacy service to the Trust, utilising our knowledge and skills to deliver safe, effective and timely supply of medicines and provide clinical expertise in all aspects of medicines management. In line with the Trust values, Pharmacy is trusted to provide safe, effective and compassionate care.

Pharmacy Opening Times

Monday to Friday, 08:30 - 17:00
Saturday and Sunday, 10:30 - 15:30
Bank Holiday Service, 10:30 - 15:30
Christmas Day - CLOSED

The Pharmacy Team

Pharmacists: experts in the safe use of medications.
Pharmacy Technicians: registered professionals providing medicines management and medicines optimisation services.
Assistant Technical Officers: dispensing, procurement, pharmacy stores and distribution.
Student Technicians: in training to become a registered pharmacy technician.
Pre-Registration pharmacists: in training to become a registered pharmacist.
Office staff: provide admin support to the department.

All pharmacy staff are easily identifiable on wards. All the team members wear black uniform, either tunics or polo shirts with white piping / green cross.

Community services

South Warwickshire Foundation Trust pharmacy provides a clinical pharmacy service to community hospitals at Stratford and Ellen Badger. The pharmacist providing the weekly service completes medication reviews and attends multidisciplinary meetings. The pharmacy team has links with the community nurse teams in North and South Warwickshire to provide advice on medications and governance. At the Central England Rehabilitation Unit (CERU) the pharmacists advise on medications for complex patients receiving neurorehabilitation following stroke, brain injuries or multiple sclerosis.

Outpatient Pharmacy

Dispensing of outpatient prescriptions and certain hospital discharges takes place via the Trust’s own subsidiary called SWFT Clinical Services, situated of the main corridor within the main hospital and on the Stratford Hospital site.
