Birth-to-three portage (pre-school educational support)

What we do

We provide home visits and an educational service for pre-school children from birth to three years old. To access the service, children should have a significant delay in two or more areas of their development. The team is made up of child development advisers who are skilled, portage-trained, early-years practitioners.

We visit children and families in their own home, helping them to learn new skills through play, and giving support and advice. Visits are either fortnightly or monthly and last for about an hour.

Each child has a named child development adviser, who will work closely with the parents/carers, and who will also liaise with other professionals involved with the child. The Birth to Three Portage service is part of the Integrated Disability Service (IDS).
