Christmas party provides children with festive fun

A huge Christmas party has put smiles on to the faces of sick children from across Coventry and Warwickshire.

The event was organised by South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust (SWFT) in collaboration with Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust (CWPT) and attended by the children they care for. Having a sibling with a chronic or life-limiting condition can be difficult for brothers and sisters too so they were also welcomed by staff and volunteers from both organisations who donned festive fancy dress. Elves entertained the children while they waited to see Santa to give him their Christmas wish lists and receive an early present. Film favourites like Iron Man, The Joker and Storm Troopers straight off the set of Star Wars posed for photos while a magician wowed the young crowds.

Now in its fifth year, it was the second time the party has been held at the impressive Antsy Hall in Coventry after outgrowing its previous venue. In addition to funding from both SWFT and CWPT the party which also featured refreshments, arts and crafts and a wide range of games is made possible due to generous donations of both time and money.

SWFT Children’s Nurse Manager Anne Sims said: “As ever, this has been a wonderful party where it has been lovely to see all the children, young people and their families having an amazing time. Staff and volunteers were led and supported by our dedicated play team. We are very grateful for all the support that makes this event possible because it’s clear to see how much it means to the children and their families. Merry Christmas to you all.”
