Visitor information

We ask you to respect the following guidelines:

Due to high-level Covid-19 community transmissions, the Trust has made the decision to suspend inpatient visiting with the only exceptions being:

  • Patients who are in the last days of life.
  • Patients who are receiving a new significant life-changing or limiting diagnosis.
  • A birthing partner accompanying a woman in labour and for the immediate post-natal period.
  • A parent or appropriate adult visiting a child.
  • Patients suffering mental health issues such as dementia, a learning disability or autism, where not having visitors is causing the patient distress.
  • Critically ill patients in the critical care unit, high dependency areas or ED.

When supporting visitors for these exceptions previous guidance remains in terms of the PPE requirements and social distancing rules.

These changes will take effect from 00.01 on Thursday 30 December and will be reviewed in two weeks.

Suitable gifts

Whilst flowers and plants are attractive, they do not last in the warm atmosphere. Locker space is very limited and there is electrical equipment so spillages may be hazardous. Not all wards welcome flowers or plants, so please consider whether you would prefer to bring other items such as: travel size toiletries; a book or magazine; games, cards and puzzle books. You could also bring squash, sparkling water, sugar-free gum, small quantities of fresh fruit, plain biscuits.

Please check with ward staff if in doubt about gifts suitability. Please do not bring in hot food.

Visiting Times

Sometimes we need to put restrictions on visiting times for clinical reasons. Whenever this happens there will be an alert on the homepage of the website. Please make sure that you check this or call the ward before visiting.
