Winter Wonderland Ball is a Sparkling Success

On Saturday 9 December 150 guests attended one of the biggest events for the Birth & Babies Appeal, the Winter Wonderland Ball which was held at Leamington Spa Town Hall.

The winter themed night started in style with Santa Claus greeting guests at the top of the grand staircase, setting the tone for the fun evening ahead. Throughout the night guests enjoyed entertainment from a live band called Rise as well as a raffle prize draw with a top prizes of a smart TV and weekend hotel stay in Devon.

The evening was a huge success, raising a staggering £8,813 for the appeal bringing the total raised so far to £53,000 out of the £200,000 target. Members of the community and local companies supported the night, with donations of raffle prizes and sponsorship, including the main contractors of the midwifery led birthing centre at Warwick Hospital, Speller Metcalfe.

The night was organised by Jennifer Harding and her mother Liz, owners of local catering company Top Nosh Food Ltd. Jennifer said: “I would like to thank the local businesses who supported the evening in a variety of ways and of course, all those who attended and bought raffle tickets. I have enjoyed bringing together the community to raise money for the Birth & Babies Appeal”.

Commenting on the evening, Director of Operations at South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust, Helen Lancaster, said: “I had a thoroughly enjoyable evening and am so pleased at how much we managed to raise so much for the appeal. The support on the night was overwhelming and will ensure that we can make our new maternity unit the best that it can be.”

The new unit will be opening in summer 2018 with the development starting after Christmas and all funds raised from the Birth & Babies Appeal will go towards enhancing the centre for women and their families.
