Hospital sterilisation and decontamination unit (HSDU)
What we do
The HSDU is based at Warwick Hospital and provides a decontamination service for all instruments and equipment used to provide medical and surgical procedures.This service is provided to all wards and departments within the Trust, including Stratford Hospital, GP Surgeries & Clinics.
The HSDU also provides an external service to clients and customers outside of the Trust. The HSDU can provide a full decontamination service and can offer transport for collection and delivery of instruments and medical equipment. Please contact us for a quote.
Decontamination is completed following a strict process of thorough washing and disinfection, close inspection is carried out before packing and the final stage of steam sterilisation.
The HSDU has four new washer/disinfectors for instrumentation and sets.
The sterilisation area has four steam sterilisers. The service is equipped with a full traceability software system that offers complete traceability of instruments through the Sterilisation process via a barcode system.
The department is fully compliant with the following quality standards:
- ISO 9001: 2008 Quality management system
- ISO 13485:2012 Medical Devices Quality Management system
- MDD 93/42EEC European Directive for Medical devices
How to find us
The HSDU is situated on the opposite side of the road to main Hospital on Lakin Road. The nearest car park is car park B, and HSDU is located at the top of the car park.
Operating Hours are 08:00 – 00:00am Monday to Friday
We provide an on call emergency service every weekend from 00:00am on Friday evening through until 08:00am on Monday morning.
