Wheelchair Referrals Update:

Warwickshire Wheelchair Service will be using electronic referral forms from the 16th November 2020 which will replace the existing paper version. Health professionals who regularly refer into the wheelchair service will receive an email from the wheelchair service in the week commencing the 9th November.

The email will have a personalised electronic referral form attached which must be saved, as it is populated with the health professional’s details. This is the email address that the wheelchair service has on record for the professional. If this is not the preferred address, it can be over-written, or contact the wheelchair service to have this changed to the preferred option, and an updated referral form will be sent.

This form should be used for each referral the professional makes to the wheelchair service going forward. It will not be necessary to request a new form for each new referral made. The referral form is password protected for security purposes. This is contained in the body of the email with your referral form and should be used to access the referral PDF document.

You will need access to the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader DC in order to open and complete the eReferral form.

Note: Warwickshire GPs need not access this new electronic referral form. There is currently a version being built into EMIS on request from Maggie Edwards, Executive Officer, Warwickshire LMC. As soon as the referral is available within EMIS, all Warwickshire GPs will be notified.

For more information around Wheelchair Referral forms and how to complete one, please open the Referral tab below.

Referrals

Please be advised that starting in November 2023, Warwickshire Wheelchair Service (WWS) are scheduled to pilot a new referral screening system using a chatbot virtual assistant. Referred clients or their carers (as appropriate) will receive a phone call from ‘LOLA’ who will complete the referral screening process using a WWS approved protocol.

‘LOLA’ is powered by empathetic artificial intelligence (AI) to complete fluent telephone referral screening conversations with clients or their carers, to establish which pathways they need to be on.

LOLA will always call our clients from the same mobile number: 07520 635433. We would like to ask our clients to save this number for their records so they know it is LOLA that is trying to get in touch with them. If a call from LOLA has been missed, our clients will be able to call her back to complete the referral screening if they choose to.

Please be assured that Lola has been implemented in accordance with NHS data protection and security standards, which means that any information shared is safe and protected.

If you are a referrer, we would be grateful if you could make your clients and / or carers aware.
