Christmas came early for patients at brain injury unit

Cobblers Biker Group, in full Christmas get up, brought cheer to patients at the Central England Rehabilitation Unit (CERU) by delivering treats during their annual ‘Christmas present run’ on Sunday 18 December.

The Northamptonshire motorbike group chose the national brain injury unit, which is based at Leamington Spa Hospital, for their Christmas charity event after a member received treatment at CERU following a crash.

Lisa Matthewman, Founder of the Cobblers Biker Group, said: “In December last year one of our members was involved in a very bad crash and was a patient at the unit. He received fantastic care at CERU, which made it an obvious choice for us when deciding where to do our Christmas present run this year. The specialist care that CERU provides is amazing and so I am really pleased that we are able to give something back.”

Sue Bleasdale, General Manager at CERU said: “This was a lovely idea and we are really grateful to the Cobblers Biker Group for choosing us as their chosen charity. Our patients can spend up to six months in the unit after a brain injury so activities like this really can make a huge difference to them.
