Ex-patient in fundraising golf drive

Hellidon Lakes Golf Club member’s Carol King and Sue Talbot have this week presented a cheque for £441 as a donation to the Aylesford Unit at Warwick Hospital.

Former cancer patient and Women’s Club Captain Carol has been a member of the Northamptonshire Golf Club for 27 years. This is the second donation from the club in the past year, having donated £638 in April 2016, bringing the total donations to over £1000 in less than 12 months.

The money was raised through the “Captain’s Drive In”, golf members donate an amount of their choice when deciding how close to the hole the ball will land on the 18th green. The nearest guess wins a bottle of champagne which is donated by the Ladies Captain. Further money was also raised through a competition course raffle at the club.

Carol was quick to praise the unit and her club mates, commenting: “After receiving such amazing care at the Aylesford Unit I try to support the service as much as I can, it feels like a family in there.”

Carole Connor, Nurse Consultant for the unit thanked everyone involved, saying: “We would all like to thank Carol, Sue and the members of Hellidon Lakes Golf Club another generous donation. The money will be used to improve the patient’s waiting area.”

Carol and Sue are also on the lookout for new female members to join them at the club.
