Kenilworth Ladies Circle and Round Table donate to new birthing centre

Warwick Hospital’s Birth & Babies Appeal was presented with a cheque this week thanks to fundraising from the Kenilworth Ladies Circle and Round Table.

The Kenilworth Ladies Circle and Round Table’s raised a staggering £2,100 from their Summer Ball at the Warwickshire Golf Club in June 2017. The Birth & Babies Appeal is one of the chosen charity of the year for the Kenilworth Ladies Circle and the group will be raising more funds for the new maternity unit over the rest of the year.

Michelle Shearer, Chair of the Ladies Circle said, “I am delighted to have been able to start our year of fundraising off with such a large donation, we hope that the Kenilworth Ladies Circle will be able to make a difference to making the new midwife led birthing centre amazing for women and their families”.

The Birth & Babies Appeal aims to raise £200,000 to fund enhancements to the new midwife led birthing centre at Warwick Hospital which will have four birthing rooms, each with a birthing pool. The money will go towards making the environment a home-from-home with specialist equipment to create a calming birthing environment such as moses-basket style cribs beyond NHS standard which cost £400 each.

Upon presenting the cheque, Martin Turner, Chairman of the Kenilworth Round Table said: "Kenilworth Round Table are very proud to have been able to support Warwick Hospital again. Our aim is to put locally collected funds back into the local community and with Warwick not benefiting from a local Round Table we are happy to donate to causes that can benefit Kenilworth residents and the wider community”.
