Lillies move pays off for Aylesford Unit

The Lillies Women’s Institute Lite has raised £725 for the Aylesford unit at Warwick Hospital through a charity quiz.

The Lillies are a small but growing women’s institute which meet at the The Royal Naval Association (RNA) in Leamington Spa on the second Thursday of the month.

The fundraiser was the Lillies’ first ever community event, made possible thanks to a recent change of venue which has given them more space and allowed them to expand their membership. Teams for the quiz came from across the community with family members, friends, another local WI group, members of the RNA, a church team and even two teams from the Aylesford Unit taking part. A raffle also helped boost the final fundraising total and prizes were kindly donated by local businesses in Leamington and Warwick.

President Caroline Mole explains why the group held their first public event in aid of the Aylesford Unit: “We chose The Aylesford Unit because a number of our members have been affected by cancer either through a family member or personally. The unit is held in very high esteem by these members and we wish to help them continue the excellent service they provide.”
