Milestone mark reached for new birthing centre

The Birth & Babies Appeal for Warwick Hospital’s new midwifery led birthing centre has this week reached £20,000, ten percent of its target.

The appeal launched in April of this year and has received incredible support already from the local communities.

As a part of the support for the appeal, Leamington-based catering company “Top Nosh” are hosting a Winter Wonderland Ball at Leamington Spa Town hall on Saturday 9 December. The night will include entertainment, a 3-course meal from Top Nosh catering, drinks and a fabulous raffle prize draw.

Jenny Harding, Owner of Top Nosh Catering, said: “Having had 2 babies at Warwick in the last 4 years, I felt this was a great opportunity to give something back. The Winter Wonderland Ball is going to be a fantastic evening; we have already received great support in making it a night to remember for guests”.

The Birth & Babies Appeal will fund enhancements beyond NHS standard to the new birthing unit on-site at Warwick Hospital, which is due to open in spring 2018. Fundraising will provide enhanced equipment like special baby cribs and stands, rather than standard plastic cots, as well as upgrade the furnishings to make the centre feel like a home-from-home.

Jayne Blacklay, Director of Development at South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We have been overwhelmed with the support for the new midwife led birthing unit so far. The community has come together to make it the best it can be and events like the ball will help us to do that. We have had a fantastic response since launching the appeal, but I would like to encourage more people to get involved and help in any way you can”.

Tickets to the Winter Wonderland Ball are £55 per person or £400 for a table of 8, go to: http://buytickets.at/topnosh
