Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility

As part of Safeguarding Awareness week staff at the South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust (SWFT) have been busy promoting a series of key messages to help remind people that safeguarding is “everyone’s responsibility”.

Running from 11 to 15 July the week featured initiatives held across the Trust. At Leamington Spa Hospital staff were invited to attend a drop in session with the adult safeguarding lead while the Children’s lead carried out a visit to teams in Rugby. At Warwick Hospital SWFT Directors visited wards to help ensure that robust safeguarding arrangements were in place throughout the organisation.

Stratford Hospital and Ellen Badger Hospital also received visits from the Community Matron who helped reinforce the key messages of the campaign and draw attention to the care act, legislation brought in to help protect individuals in need of support.

Charity organisation Stonham, part of Home Group, also assisted with an information stand in the Warwick canteen promoting the various domestic abuse services available to members of the public. To access information on these services visit the Home Group website

Matron, Jane Tedstone helped co-ordinate Safeguarding Awareness Week; “Everyone has the right to live their lives free from violence and abuse. We are striving to ensure there is an increased awareness and willingness for people to speak up about abuse and harm.”
