Teddy Bears takeover Ragley Hall Gardens

On Friday 1 September teddy bears and their owners descended on the beautiful Ragley Hall Gardens, to raise money which will go towards making the new birthing centre at Warwick Hospital the best it can be.

The youngest guests enjoyed a range of entertaining activities on the day, including readings from the Tales of Shakespuss by author Melissa Mailer-Yates and musical fun with Rhythm Time and Dandy Development sessions. Guests could also take part in a raffle, crafts, best dressed teddy competition and guess the name of the teddy bear. Thanks to all of the support from local families £3,500 was raised.

The event was organised by South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust for the Birth and Babies fundraising Appeal which aims to raise £200,000. All of the raised will be invested into special enhancements that will make the facility fabulous for women and their families. Fundraising will enable the Trust to buy enhanced equipment like special baby cribs and stands, rather than standard plastic cots, as well as upgrade the furnishings to make the unit feel like a home-from-home.

Wendy Jones, Associate Director of Women’s and Children’s Division at South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust said: “I would like to thank everyone that came to the teddy bears picnic and a special thankyou to Ragley Hall for letting us host such a fantastic event, as well as all of the organisations that helped make the day a huge success. The birthing centre is going to be extremely beneficial for lots of families in Warwickshire and the surrounding areas. It is lovely to see so many people supporting our maternity services and helping us to make it the best it can be.”
