Trust is delighted to reappoint Chairman

South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust is pleased to announce that Russell Hardy has been reappointed as Chairman of the Board of Directors and Council of Governors.

At the Council of Governors meeting on Thursday10 September 2020 the Governors of the Trust made the decision to reappoint Russell and his term of office will now run until the end of May 2024.

Russell was initially appointed to the post in 2015 and since joining the Trust he has been instrumental in developing its strategy which focusses on health not illness with an emphasis on ‘Helping You to Help Yourself’. With extensive experience of working in both NHS trusts and private companies, Russell has been able to share his knowledge of overseeing strategic developments and embedding a culture of innovation.

Russell not only offers support as Chairman at SWFT, he is now able to share his skills and expertise on a larger scale with partners in the Foundation Group. In 2017 a ‘Foundation Group’ was created in partnership with SWFT and Wye Valley NHS Trust. In 2018 George Eliot Hospitals NHS Trust joined the Group. Russell is the Chairman at all three organisations.

Russell said: “I am delighted that my role as Chairman has been extended. There is some really fantastic and innovative work happening across the Trust and I am excited to continue working with the team to deliver it. I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the teams at SWFT and this year in particular I have been amazed by the sheer compassion and dedication of our workforce. It has been challenging for everyone, but seeing how they have responded to Covid-19 has been humbling.”
