South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust (SWFT) has been re-accredited as a Veteran Aware Trust by the Veterans Covenant Healthcare Alliance. This accreditation acknowledges SWFT’s continued commitment to providing high-quality, personalised care for members of the Armed Forces community and supporting staff with military connections.

First accredited in 2018, SWFT has maintained and strengthened its support for veterans, service personnel, reservists, and their families. Recent initiatives include Armed Forces Day celebrations, expanding Armed Forces Champions across departments, and strong partnership working with local charities and community groups.

The reaccreditation also follows SWFT being awarded the Silver Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Award in 2024, with ambitions to achieve Gold status in 2026.

Shelley Hooper, Armed Forces Network Lead at SWFT, said: “It is an honour to lead the Armed Forces Network here at SWFT. Our reaccreditation means veterans, serving personnel, and their families can be confident we understand their needs and will provide the care and support they deserve. We are proud to stand alongside the Armed Forces community, both as patients and colleagues.”

The Armed Forces community in Warwickshire is estimated at over 100,000 people, and SWFT remains committed to meeting their needs with compassion and understanding.
